CHRISTMAS COMPETITION

DECEMBER 2002

All you have to do this year is answer two simple questions

1.

North - South hold 40 high card points, (i.e.all the points in the pack).

Using simple Acol, they bid up to Seven No-Trumps.

West, who is on lead, starts off with the four of hearts.

With best defence and best declarer play, South is only able to make nine tricks.

What were the four hands?

[Hint – The problem is much simpler than it looks.]

2.

Complete the following limerick in the most apt and amusing way:-

“A lady from Stockton-on-Tees

Was adept at performing a squeeze
